“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” – Barack Obama
It took me a while to learn this lesson. Sometimes the inertia of life sucks me into a routine. I'm not learning, not growing. I'm simply coasting along doing what I've become accustomed to doing. And then the thought comes, "Why am I not going anywhere?"
When I was young, I blamed others for my place in life. If my boss was more agreeable, I would have gotten a promotion, or if people weren't so greedy, I'd have a better life. And I sat and waited for something to change. And nothing did.
We are the ones who effect change. The sad truth is that very few people will every truly care where your life goes. You're the one living in your body, you're the one invested in your success. So take some time today to think about what you've been waiting for. What you really want to get. And then go do something about it. Only you can make it happen for yourself, so stop waiting and stop making excuses and go do it!
